MK in Nylon

Heart the mongolian lamb wrap...and her in general.
Looking good MK.

My Idol

I don't care that she is holding a cigarette and looks kind of high. I love her, more than anyone. She is my style icon.

Weekly Bag/Set Sail

I have been eyeing these sailcloth bags for a while, and since I am up in Cape Cod I thought a nautical themed bag would be appropriate.  These bags are made out of 100% vintage sails and are extraordinarily durable and functional...perfect for a weekend trip or the beach.

Have You Read This?

What are your thoughts?  I'm reading it now...it's a little heavy for a beach road though but I'm enjoying it very much.  More once I'm done....

Hi there.

I am writing you from Cape Cod, where I have been for the past two weeks.  I am lucky and get 4 weeks off from work this summer, that is right 4 weeks!  I have chosen to spend the bulk of it at my house up in Cape Cod.  What are you doing for these last lazy days of summer?

Here is a list of few things I hope to accomplish in the next few days....

1. Visit my favorite CC store WEEKEND they are having a sidewalk sale which means deals on cute Tibi dresses and fun things for the home.  Check it out!

2. Beach everyday.  If the sun is out, you will find me at Nauset Beach.

3. Go to Joe's my favorite CC restaurant.  Their swordfish romano is calling my name.

4. Stock up on batteries/candles/water because apparently there is a hurricane headed our way. GO AWAY BILL!

My New Favorite Thing (it's this picture, thats all...)

I stumbled upon this image today while perusing Cup of Jo's blog.....I think it is one of my favorite things ever, in the entire world.  I even placed it on my sidebar (see scroll all the way down, look on the right!) Paul Newman is truly stunning as is Joanne Woodward.  Oh the way they were....

Weekly Bag/Bow Me Over

As per usual I am a sucker for anything and everything with a bow on it.  When I was little Madre used to always stick them in my hair, and in high school every Summit girl thought they were the height of fashion.  Well in the case of this Valentino bag they are tres fashionable without being too cutesy or preppy.  I have to admit when I first saw this bag a few seasons ago I was not thrilled....but this beautiful grey has won me over.  It is patent, but in comparison to some other larger bags on the market it is somewhat reasonably price (remember it is Valentino!) also have you see Valentino : The Last Emperor yet??!?!?

The River

So again it's been a while, but over Memorial Day Madre and I went up to our dear, dear friends house on the St. Lawrence River in upstate NY. It was heavenly and not just because that Saturday was my first day off since Christmas vacation! We visited the local shops, took the doggie for long walks, ate amazing fish/shrimp, and perhaps most importantly we went for several BOAT RIDES. If you know me you know I was born to be on a boat....there is nothing I like more and no place I would rather be than on a boat when the sun is out!

VIVA Las Vegas

SO next weekend KW and I are going on a MUCH MUCH needed trip to VEGAS.  I've never been before but I am so excited, and I may or may not have seen The Hangover (umm Bradley Cooper is HOT) twice already.  Being the OCD person that I am I have been planning for weeks now booking show tickets, cabanas, club tickets and so on and so forth.  Anyone who has been to Vegas what am I missing that's important?  Any recommendations??  Thanks!!!!

I'm Back

So it's been way way too long since my last post....but I figured I would give it a try again....here's hoping.

The Reader

Last night I finally went to see Kate Winslet in The Reader, WOW I was blown away. I won't get too much into the plot in case some people haven't seen it (and you should!) but it was an amazing movie.

Last night was also the very first time that I have gone to a movie by myself. This may not seem like a big thing but to me it was. Honestly, I enjoyed it too. I went to The Paris Theatre, which happens to be right down the block from my new apartment. The Paris is on old school theatre, with a mezzanine seating level. When you walk in the screen is covered in thick velvet curtains that are drawn back just as the movie is starting. It was nice to watch a movie in this retro setting, instead of in one of those megaplex cinema places on the highway.

Scout Sunday/Delayed

The Scout-ster

So for a while now I have been wanting to start a feature called "Scout Sunday" where I post a picture of my adorable puppy every Sunday. This I have to say is taken directly from my favorite blogger Melissa C. Morris (link to her blog at the bottom of the page) who features her adorable little Italian Greyhound Monty on her blog every Monday. So thank you, thank you Melissa for your inspiration!
This is a picture of Scout taken over the Summer...he looks so adult here, and it kind of looks like a mug shot. Much cuter pictures to follow....

Blue Print Cleanse

So I have decided to do a three day Blue Print Cleanse. The company has been getting a great deal of press lately and I thought I would check it out....I'll keep you posted!

Weekly Bag/Show Some Skin

Brilliant Croc Framed Satchel

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK! How gorgeous is this bag. The color is perfect for those of you who love neon and all things green (me!!) The price point is not exactly a steal, especially in these times...but a girl can dream right? The scales on the croc skin are just beautiful, and if you do feel the need to invest in such a bag, Nancy Gonzalez is the way to go (aside from hermes of course)

To Purchase:

Carine Roitfeld

If I could be one person in the world other than myself it would be Carine Roitfeld, editrix of Paris Vogue. Carine, unlike Anna, does not have to pander to the American fashion masses. French Vogue has a much smaller circulation and Carine has never to "dull down" her fashion spreads for the faint of heart. What you find on the pages of French Vogue (bondage, full frontal nudity) is not what you will find in American Vogue (how do dress recession chic) One has to admire Carine's edgier and artistic style, and the fact that she doesn't sacrifice it to sell more magazines.

Aside from her fabulous fashion spreads, she has of course a fabulous fashion sense. She is extremely minimalistic, often found wearing black with exotic furs (like the white Mongolian shag coat she has been sporting recently) She looks best in Balenciaga, and broad shoulders, straps, hardware, skin tight, are all words that come to mind when I think of Carine. Bottom line, the woman is just sex. What do you think!?!?

Weekly Bag

Big Heart Tote

I have decided to start a weekly feature called "Weekly Bag" which will highlight new handbags on the market and others I find interesting. This week I thought I would start with something whimsical by Marc Jacobs. This "Big Heart Tote" is roomy, colorful, and adds some playfulness to an otherwise boring work week. Since it's the Marc Jacobs label rather than Marc by Marc Jacobs, the price is rather high for a tote ($1,895), but the cute fluttery hearts almost make it worth it. What do you think?

Greed

MICHELLE WILLIAMS AND NATALIE PORTMAN in"GREED"

FRANCESCO VEZZOLI "Greed"

MARCEL DUCHMAP "Belle Haleine: Eau de Voilette"

One of my favorite artists Francesco Vezzoli has just produced a film (directed by Roman Polanski) about a fictitious perfume called Greed. The film stars Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams and is currently on view at Gagosian Gallery in Rome. In the film Portman and Williams fight over an ornate bottle of perfume, which is adorned with a label featuring an image of Vezzoli in drag. Vezzoli's film is a nod to the father of ready made art, Marcel Duchamp, who once took a bottle a perfume and pasted his own label on it. Duchamp's piece entitled, "Belle Haleine: eue de Voilette" also features a portrait of Duchamp dressed as his female alter ego Rrose Sélavy, the photo was taken by none other than Man Ray. As an artist Vezzoli has long been preoccupied with the concept of truth, seduction, and I would say irony...all of which are present in his latest film.

Vezzoli's piece is on view at Gagosian Rome through March 21, so if you're lucky enough to be there check it out!

Alexander Wang

I have recently fallen in LOVE with Alexander Wang and his collections. His clothing is a mix of chic and sophisticated wear to work pieces with a dash of urban utility mixed in. He received top honors in 2008 from the Vogue/CFDA fund, and he is only 24 years old to boot!

I recently purchased the piece above, with is perfect for both work and going out.

Twitter

I recently joined Twitter, although I must confess I don't really know what to use it for. It's fun to follow the "famous" people on it (Lance Armstrong, Jimmy Fallon, Britney Spears among others) but unless your friends are on it I think its kind of pointless...maybe my feelings will change over time and if more friends join, haha THIS MEANS YOU JK!!!

If you do decide to join though my username is : LeighNM follow me!

NEON

MICHAEL KORS FALL 2009

If you know me, you know just how much I am obsessed with neon. Thank goodness for Mr. Michael Kors, who is keeping the trend going for Fall 2009! The hot pink trapper hat is my number one pick....

About the Oyster

SCONSET LARGE BRIM HAT

SIGNATURE HAT BOXES

I know "the world is my oyster" is a somewhat cliche phrase, but for me it relates to a small hat shop on Nantucket. The store, Peter Beaton, sells fine straw hats and other preppy/Nantucket centered attire. Their logo or motto is "because the world is my oyster" and they print the phrase on t-shirts in a preppy pink color. While I own one of their t-shirts I do not yet own one of their hats...something I have wanted for a long time. The phrase reminds me of the store, which reminds me of my summers on Cape Cod, family, friends, and my wonderful (for the most part) life.
